5 Ways I Measure the Success of my Business That Have Nothing to do with Money!

Jan 04, 2024

It’s the time of year again when everyone is sharing their financial goals for the year. I have BIG money goals too! But I also believe it’s important to define some non-monetary goals to measure the success of my business!

The way I see it, my business is a tool I use to create the life I desire. I don’t just plan on being in business this year, I’m in it for the long term. Which means I need to be growing in other areas too!

I believe it's crucial to measure success beyond the dollar signs. Here are five ways I measure the success of my business that have nothing to do with money:

1. Audience Growth

Sure, money talks, but so do the numbers as they relate to the size of your audience. Witnessing your audience expand is like watching a garden bloom – it's a testament to your message resonating. Celebrate every new follower, subscriber, and client as a victory in building a community that believes in what you're doing. In a world that is loud with distractions and interference, it’s not easy to attract and maintain people in your corner of the internet. So if you are growing, be proud and know that you are doing something right!

2. Client Retention

It's not just about acquiring clients; it's about keeping them in your orbit. Happy, satisfied clients are your business's best ambassadors. Repeat business, long-term relationships, and referrals speak volumes. After all, success isn't just in the sale; it's in the stories your clients share about their journey with you. If my clients are winning, I’m winning!

3. Consistently Showing Up

In a world of hustle and bustle, consistency is your secret weapon. Showing up regularly for your audience and clients creates trust and reliability. It's the marathon mentality – steady, persistent effort over time. Think of it as your daily jog toward success, rather than a sprint that leaves you gasping for air. When showing up consistently starts to feel hard, change your perspective from “I need to post every day” or “I need to get this weekly podcast episode out” to “I need to consistently be visible!” As long as you are getting in front of your people, the how isn’t as important!

4. Living a Fulfilled Life

Success isn't confined to your business metrics; it extends into your personal life! That's partly because your business is an extension of who you are! Balancing motherhood and business is an art. If your business success doesn't translate into a fulfilled life, it's time for a pivot. Celebrate the moments you create with your family, the joy you find in your work, and the time you spend doing more of the things you love. For me, that looks like reading more, learning a new hobby, and traveling more with my family!

5. Not Burning Out

In the race to 6-figures, it's easy to go from 0-60, but success shouldn't come at the cost of your well-being. Avoiding burnout is a profound measure of success. Acknowledge the importance of self-care, boundaries, and the occasional pause to appreciate how far you've come without depleting your energy reserves. It’s not just about making money, it’s how you make your money that’s key!

In fact, I have a FREE guide ‘From Scratch to $100k in 15 Months or Less’ that breaks down the strategy designed specifically for mamas that will get you to 6-figures while honoring your most important role – mama, and your most valuable asset – time. If you’re interested, click HERE!

Here’s to measuring success in the laughter of your kids, the gratitude of your clients, and the serenity of a life well-lived. You're not just building a business; you're building a legacy that extends beyond the balance sheet.

Your success story is being written every day – make sure it's a story that brings you joy, fulfillment, and the occasional victory dance.

Here's to thriving, not just surviving, on this incredible journey!
