The Key to a Thriving Business as a Homeschooling Mama

As Homeschooling Mamas, I think it's important that we understand that we don't have more time than others. Time is the only thing that we've all been given equal amounts of. 

*Not as it's measured over a lifespan as we all aren't given the same amount of years to live.* 

Health, wealth, education, etc. all of these things are given in varying degrees and if you want more, you have to go out and get it. 

But with time, there are no varying degrees. Everyone gets 60 mins in an hour, 24 hours in a day, 7 days in a week, and so on and so on...

It's not how much time we get, but what we do with it that matters. 

When I started Mama of Both Worlds, I knew that I didn't want to build my business in a way that traded time for money. I wanted to make sure that if I was adding more to my plate, then at the very least I wanted to be able to decide what those things were! And they needed to be things that lit me up! 

But I'm jumping ahead. I want to talk to you about the time before I started Mama of Both Worlds. 

Lessons from a 6-figure Homeschooling Mama in Business

What I've learned is that of all of the "keys to a successful business," this one I'm about to tell you about takes the cake.

That's because none of the other "keys" matter if you don't have a lock on the most important one.

Sure, things like consistency, determination, and a positive mindset are key, but above all else - the key to a successful business is a passion-fueled business!

See, passion isn't just another buzzword, it's the key to success!

I mean now that I said it, it's kind of obvious, right?

But did you know there are varying levels of passion?

It's true! There are the kinds of passions we are excited to share with the world, and there are the kinds of passions we enjoy for ourselves.

I wish I had known that back in 2018 when I decided to join an MLM.

My intentions were good and the plan was easy - share products that I loved using for my family. But what I discovered was that while I was passionate about making changes to use cleaner and natural products in my home, I was not passionate about helping others make those changes in their homes. It just didn't do it for me.

The real reason I chose to join this company was because it was sold to me as an easy way to make money. But that couldn't be farther from the truth.

Of course, because I was told how "easy" it would be, I stayed longer than I should have. Trying tirelessly to make it work. Thinking that if I quit, that meant I failed. And then I realized, it's not quitting if it never stood a chance.

The problem wasn't the MLM, it was that I was trying to sell something I wasn't passionate about selling.

I knew what I had to do. I had to lean into something I was passionate about! No cookie-cutter strategies or one-size-fits-all formulas – just a deep dive into discovering what set my soul on fire. I traded in the scripted sales pitches for authentic conversations about what truly mattered to me. 

With newfound clarity, I ventured into a business that resonated with my heart – a business rooted in passion. No longer attached to the pursuit of dollars, I let my genuine enthusiasm guide my choices. The result? A thriving business that didn't just pay the bills; it exceeded my wildest expectations, reaching the coveted six-figure mark.
